"Beautiful" is an accurate word to describe this book that hardly does it justice. It is an incredibly historically informational novel peopled with (a few too many) warmly flawed and incredibly real characters.This book should come with a warning. I spent time near where the village was located and the descriptions were spot on and made me miss it.

None of the characters seem particularly three-dimensional, and the most vivid memory I have of the novel is actually the descriptions of the little village on the coast of Anatolia, which sounds lovely.Since I only got to page 181 and then DNF, I will not rate this.Novelist Louis de Bernières was born in London in 1954.
